A typical example of Bruce is when we were aged only 12. We were all on an organised trip to Winchester and I as per usual had left my mac on the train. As we arrived at Winchester it poured down and as kids do they all had a laugh at my expense. Suddenly a gaberdeen mac appeared round my shoulders and when I looked up it was Bruce saying to me, share my coat. We then became firm friends and he only ever did me good turns over the next 60 years. Will miss our banter. Alan Cobham
